Speeding in VA last month 100 in a 65 , got caught. I didnt know VA was so strict, anything past 90 is straight to jail, its crazy, a year in jail for speeding, wasnt drunk, daylight, no one on road. Anyway i learned my lesson, but what is the prediction that ill be free. Am i going to be found guilty, an appeal, court fees, or licenes gone? Im scared to death, i dont think i can take jail, and an appeal , more money..Anyway i will appreicate any answers. Thank u in advance.

 Is this your first offense?  Maybe they'll give you probation and a HEAVY fine (the jails are overcrowded as it is). In the future....Slow down speedracer!!!  

Virginia IS one of the strictest states for speeding, which is why they have all those signs posted (at least off interstate 95) about speed monitored from above. They don't do that so that you will ignore them and go 40 over the limit.  Are you a VA resident, if so it is even MORE strict for you. That is probably why automatic jailtime....

I do not reside in VA, and it is my first offense. I dont know what else to use in my defense. My GPA 3.67, Im on the national deans list, Im in grad school. And i had togo to the bathroom. Maybe i can also use my mother is disabled, and im the main person who takes care of her sense or move to my current state i live in now. Do you think that will work. MAybe in a different order. Bad thing is my lawyer is going to court alone, and i havent talked to him but once, i dont know what hes going to say in my defense.

I think all of this will greatly depend on the judge who hears your case. I think at this point, you have no defense.  You were caught going 100 in a 60. That is against the law and you will have to pay for that, no ifs, ands or buts about it. Take what is coming to to you and learn from this experience.  The courts don't care if your bladder was about to explode, or whether your an honor student.  You will probably not get prison time since its your first offense, but I do think you'll get a heavy fine. So be prepared to pay several hundred if not over a thousand.  

I'm not going to be a hypocrite, I've sped and I've paid the price (ticket price and now higher insurance). I definately watch my speed now because any hit to my pocketbook is an eye opener. Besides, speeding can kill. Something to think about the next time your lead foot hitches a ride with you.  

If you try to make excuses the judge will be much tougher (It really makes them mad).  It takes an adult to admit they are wrong.
