Hey guys, my uncle is suffering from lung cancer (I think it's lung cancer) right now. About a month to a month and a half ago, the doc said he only had 2 weeks to a month of life remaining. Being in a Buddhist/Taoist family, my grandma went to the temple and "asked" the "god" about my uncle. The "god" said almost the same thing, that my uncle would hold for about a few weeks more.

Just recently, there was a lot of blood coming out from him when he was going to the bathroom and my aunt said this is the last phase of cancer.

I was just wondering if there was anything I could do to help him, or can I only pray for a miracle to happen?

I feel so helpless about this matter and it really saddens me whenever I hear my family talk about it...

Hello Fayte,

We all feel helpless in the face of the death of a much loved member of our family because it reminds us that we ourselves are also mortal. The only miracle that I feel that you or any of us can pray for at the moment is that whenever your uncle's time to pass over into Spirit finally arrives (and doctor's have been known to make some very inaccurate predictions as to when a person will die), that death will come in his sleep and it will be quick and free of pain.

You need to remain as positive as possible and do anything you can to keep him comfortable with the help of his medications, but you do at the same time need to accept that everyone including yourself will eventually die, when their God decides that their allotted time on Earth is now over. Even though we know within us according to our spiritual beliefs that the spirit is eternal, this does not mean that you should not feel sad about not being to hold your beloved uncle in your arms just one more time.

I therefore also pray for your uncle's healing in body, mind and spirit, and ask that when his time to leave you does arrive that he will be taken into God's loving and healing presence, in the company of his honoured ancestors and other family members who went before him. We share and empathise with your feelings of helplessness and grief. It all seems so unfair when he was and still is such a kind and compassionate person himself, but every man who is born of woman has only a limited time in order to live out his dreams. Only his Creator (not doctors) knows exactly how long this might be.

May your Uncle find peace and be as free of pain as is humanly possible until then,

My mom also has lung cancer (small cell),she also has blood coming out when going to the bathroom the doctor said it was from hemroids.We all know the time is near but we also remain hopeful and pray for a miracle.

Praying is about God's will be done! We can see wholeness and wellness in our prayers. And most traditions have a method 'praying over' the loved one with the illness. Release and relax. The more you send love, the more that will manifest in the best for all concerned.

The best thing to do is surround in light. Tell them on a higher level it is ok for them to go and be at peace. They will get the message.
