Not all mediumship is done in trance....if anything it is attunement at about the alpha level with some alertness to the consciousness. There are many levels of altered states of consciousness from slight to deep.

Medium and Channel? What's in a word except a few letters.

A curious question, why would you give up almost all faculties for a spirit who you do not know?

SW: A medium NEVER gives up their own consciousness to the unknown. The medium is in an attunement with spirit guide(s) long before they do any type of mediumship work. They know their own guide and that is who is the spirit attunement. All messages are 4 way - the medium is in attunement with their own guide - also in attunement with the sitter/client, the spirit guide is in attunement with who is coming to communicate. All are a part of the whole message.

It could also explain why there is no 100% accuracy. But because it is the consciousness of the medium that is used, there is always a portion remaining in the message. In the beginning a training medium works with 90% self/10% spirit. Their efforts are based on turning this around to 90% spirit/10% self.

It is NEVER necessary to go into trance to do mediumship. A reading is just an alert consciousness effort by a medium. Doing other work - i.e. speaking, channelling inspiration, (these are 2 states at which I go slight or deep) - a deeper state can be sought. And there are states of altered consciousness anywhere from slightly to deep.
