A friend asked me once when i casually mentioned that i was into spiritual stuff, ie psychic, tarots and wicca. Her response to my statement was.."Why would you want to know what happens in the future'?. I told her that tarot and psychic readings are not predominantly tools used to determine the future and future outcomes. Its more of, at least to me, something i use to determine what's going on right now and what i need to understand about what's going on around and within me and on how to get on the right path to get to where i want to go. Most people i know in my circle, have this preconceived notion that psychics especially, are people you go to to 'see what happens in the future'. Popular culture doesn't necessarily help the issue either. I was wondering your thoughts and experiences were out there?

My experiences as an intuitive reader (rather than as a fortune teller or prophet) are that while I completely agree with you that being a psychic does not necessarily mean that you are heavily involved with predicting the future and have always emphasised this point within my readings, the generally accepted definition is that a psychic tunes into the other person's human energy field or aura, with the major intended purpose of predicting their future.

It is all therefore highly dependent on which particular definition of the many which are currently out there of just what being a psychic really mean that you choose to accept. I also believe that this confusion is largely driven by the unrealistic expectations of consumers who sometimes pay exorbitant fees to have someone else map out their entire future in front of them as though it was set in stone. If you believe that everything is predestined, then there is no reason to take responsibility for trying to make things better as the future will be unchanged by whatever you do or do not do.

This in a way gives the person an excuse to hand over their personal power to the "psychic" as if they know better what is in the client's best interests, and when outlandish fees are being charged for your services as a reader, there is I believe generally much more temptation to adapt your readings to what you believe the sitter most expects from you. In this way, they are much more likely to return for another reading at a later date (with another hefty fee being charged), and they are also much more willing to freely advertise this to their friends by word of mouth or personal recommendation.

Please do not get me wrong, as there are genuine psychic readers who do seem especially gifted in being able to predict the most likely of many possible futures, and many charge reasonable fees (they still need to make an honest living) and would never consider exploiting or abusing their clients in this manner. I myself feel fortunate and privileged enough to be in the financial position to be able to offer free readings over the internet without the undue pressure of being forced to charge any fee, for what to me is purely a labour of great love, empathy and above all humility. To feel that you are being of service to others by freely sharing the spiritual gifts that you have yourself been given is a real emotional buzz!!!

Hoping that this has helped to begin your discussion, as I believe that your's could soon become a very popular topic on this forum. I wish you well both with this thread, and at the same time with your own psychic and spiritual development.

Many blessings to you all,
