Hi lilac-
I used to have this problem until recently; I learned reiki which taught me how to use the energy around me instead of using my own energy to help others. Using your own energy is exhausting, leaves you with a smashing headache and just feeling depleted of energy. I think what you are doing is using your own energy instead of channeling it from another source. You may want to look in the reiki forums to guide you to better use your talents without draining yourself.
Best wishes!
Angelique

Healing is always by request. We do not take upon ourselves to aid others without their knowledge - some consider this a judgment of their wellbeing (or lack thereof).
When doing any form of healing, Flow spirit Flow, is the admonition. Allow the energy to enter and leave unimpeded. You are merely the conduit for the energy, not its source, nor its creation. The more we allow the flow, the less it uses our physical energies to manifest healing.

When I see people in trouble or in pain, I pray for their well being. At times I even try to help them by vizualizing their good.
I do this without anybody asking me to do this and don't expect anything in return for this because most of the time people are not aware about what i'm doing. |

I personally believe that it is not necessary to ask for one's permission to ask that healing energy be sent to someone, nor do I believe it is necessary someone for permission to pray for them. I see what you both say and to me it is all about intent, and people do it both ways, but to me everything is about intent. As long as things are done from the heart, with true intent to help someone, then I see nothing wrong. It is true as Spiritalk says in that it can be a form of judgment, but only if one sees it as such?
Sometimes I really believe that there is a lesson in it for both the channel and the receiver. It is a lesson in where true power lay (not with us), but with God/Allah/Source, Great Spirit, etc. It is a lesson in humility for the receiver in that one should not feel ashamed for asking for help, or for strength in times of suffering. It is also a lesson in compassion and ego for the channel, that the channel should realize that they are indeed only a channel, and that the true power of healing lay not with us. It is also a lesson for all of us that we should realize that we are all connected in all we do, all we feel and all that we are. I'm sure there are many more lessons there somewhere, as we all take away different things, but those are my feelings.

Although I can see the downside of what spiritalk is speaking of, it could almost be seen an invasion, like reading someone's private thoughts without their permission -It's unwelcome and invading ones privacy. However, I see nothing wrong with praying for someone if you sense a person is ill, down, depressed, having hard luck... Attempting to heal them on the other hand, is a grey area. I've done quite a bit of reading on this forum since I had started the reiki and opinions differ. I myself have not decided whether it is a good thing or a bad thing to try and heal the sick without their permission. I think that's up to the individual who wants to do the healing based on what their heart and maybe even spirit is telling them. However, prior to learning reiki, I would go right ahead and find myself a quiet spot for an hour or so and concentrate on healing those who needed it without their permission... I see no crime in it. It's like providing food and shelter to a homeless person you found on the street who has not asked for help. Regardless, he is just happy to have his belly filled and a warm place to stay for the night.
Where I do see a crime is going places you should not be privy to without an invitation, such as ones private thoughts.
One random act of 'kindness' at a time can make a world of difference
