Hi Danny,

Firstly although I believe that these tingling sensations are of a psychic energy nature, I feel that it would be most unwise not to also have these symptoms checked out first by a qualified doctor. Yes they could be related to the paranormal (you may in fact be experiencing the early signs of developing as a trance medium), or it could still be related to energy rebalancing going on within your aura and spirit body (which is presently surrounded by your physical one). But they could also potentially be the first signs of anything from a vitamin B1 deficiency (as the B vitamins are mainly concerned with keeping your nervous system healthy) to the warning symptoms of circulation problems or even a malfunction or disease of the nervous system itself. A pinched nerve near the base of your spine could cause exactly the same symptoms you just described.

While the energy surges appear to be going in the wrong direction according to your understanding of the process of awakening the Kundalini or life force which is often visualised in it's latent form as a tightly coiled serpent located at the base of your spine (and just behind your male sexual organs), this is not entirely true. Are you aware that as the cosmic forces enter your head from above and then move down your spine awakening in turn each of the seven major psychic energy centres or chakras, that energy this time coming from the Earth must enter through the soles of your feet to be transmitted up through your spine in order to meet the energies which were coming from above in the area of your middle or heart chakra. As a spiritual being having a temporary physical experience, we are poised effectively half way between heaven (the higher spiritual energy levels above) and the Earth below us to complete the electrical circuit.

If these symptoms are caused by you consciously attempting to force Kundalini to awaken, please be especially careful, as most doctors will tell you that you are possibly either going crazy (you are NOT) or possibly totally ignore you if you suggested such a thing to them. You could easily overload your internal energy circuits by trying to artificially speed up the process, and possibly cause a mass burnout or meltdown!!!!

Don't play with fire or something you only partially understand, or you might just get burned!!!

The following links may be of some use to you in order to reduce many of these uncomfortable symptoms, but if you persist in doing this without the guidance of a qualified teacher, I fear that you will soon be beyond any assistance we could offer you on these MB forums. I do not wish to frighten you, but inexperience and impatience in awakening Kundalini can potentially lead to serious psychiatric disorders and even in some extreme cases death. If you do not actually die, you could very soon wish you had?

Yes that feeling of a cap on your head has been reported by other people undergoing such a spiritual awakening. Some teachers believe that it is due to the energies which are radiating from your crown chakra at the very top of your head that cause this unusual feeling.

This therefore has no actual protective function in itself, but it is not to be confused with the very popular visualisation method which suggests that seeing a protective cap if only in your mind's eye can be a source of comfort to you in getting through some of the more uncomfortable symptoms associated with this spiritual condition.

You are obviously one of those people who they talk about in the articles who is experiencing this awakening without consciously seeking it (spontaneously), and your medical history of psychotic attacks does not necessarily preclude you from successfully getting through this phase of your development, with some assistance from your doctor and friends on these forums.

Your courage in the face of these weird symptoms you are enduring is truly inspiring to me. Could I also suggest that having gone through your illness, you now possess a much greater degree of inner strength than you might have had if you had not done so (with your doctor's help)?

I would have advised the same sensible precautions be taken by anyone, regardless of their past medical history, so please do not take my comments in the wrong manner as being in some way a personal attack upon you.

We are all (myself included) here in order to help and support you through this as best we can over the internet. I just believe that it is always better to be safe than to be sorry?
