Hi Robert,
It really depends on how each reader measures the effectiveness of their readings. By "blew it" do you mean that the predictions that were made during the reading turned out to be wrong? I personally gauge the effectiveness of my readings by whether they were of help to the person concerned in better preparing them for whatever the future has in store for them, instead of wanting to be regarded as the most accurate fortune teller or prophet on the planet.
The reader must place a certain degree of trust in his or her intuition, spirit guide or angel that the information which comes through them is what the person requesting the reading (the querent aka you) most needs to know at that particular time. In other words we do this work with the belief that our guides etc, know far better than anybody what would be of greatest value to that person at the moment.
Our own task as I see it on the other hand is to communicate to you what comes through us to the best of our abilities, without either leaving anything out because we feel that it is of no importance, or worse adding something of our own that was not in the original message.
I would definitely feel disappointed if the person told me that my reading was of no help or relevance to them, but I would not at the same time think I blew it. It could be that the information given will only make sense at a later time, or more often that the person having the reading is either unable or unwilling to accept what messages I am passing on to them.
I have complete confidence that my inner guidance does not lie and never "blows it", but I work constantly to improve both the overall quality of my readings and to be able to better communicate what is coming through me. If the person concerned does not immediately understand everything I wrote, I will make every human effort to make things as clear to them as I possibly can (which is why your feedback is so very valuable to us as readers).
Your's sincerely,
EOT

Ditto to what eye of tiger said.
Also to add I find that at certain times I will have the information flowing so quickly that I dont have time to breathe. When it is like that I sometimes wonder that because I feel so strongly its all meant for them that if they were to say no thats not me I might actually not believe them but believe my guide and continue with the thought that they dont know what they are talking about....hehe... I certainly dont mean that to sound pompous because i doubt myself after every reading but some come through so clear and so defined and you get told at the beginning that this one person wont listen to much, some need a nice firm look in the right direction.
I often wonder if having a little doubt is good, is that what keeps us grounded? Does that help us keep ego out and not turn into some intuitives that are all about the money or themselves first?
I will always let the person know
1) If the person I am talking about is not them then to think of someone close to them whom it may pertain to. This is certain in the case when they are trying to build relationships with family members or are a twin.
2) What doesnt make sense now can certainly make more sense later
3) Sometimes I get deceased loved ones come through talking about info they have no recollection of so it isnt until they discuss with their family that they can make the jigsaw fit.
For sure I have some sitters look at me blanky and I can second guess myself. Like any kind of business you will have good days and bad, some will leave you flat doubting yourself and others will leave you feeling you accomplished the task and the other person is benefiting.

I just wanted to add, that sometimes a querent or sitter or seeker, will actually deny things, and say quite flatly, "NO!" thats wrong, most times I have found that there is a reason for this that may come to light later on, perhaps they ring me later or tap me on the shoulder and explain. Sometimes there is an element of embarrassment too and they just were confused and distressed that perhaps I could actually see them inside.
I don't think that anyone should ever feel they 'blew it' unless perhaps they are working on hunches and allowing their ego and self make the reading rather than working with higher or inner sources?
