Theres one thing i haven't seen anyone mention yet and i do appologise if anyone has but please dont forget that the bible was changed by King James after he had almost been killed at sea in a shipwreck and blamed witches for cursing him, so some of the new testement has been changed reworded and the addition of man should not lay with another man, witches not to be suffered, (the start of the witch hunts), whole gospels have been taken out (eg. The gospel according to Nicodemous), So i personally take the bible with a pinch of salt, i do believe in a higher purpose but not the bible as an accurate account of stories from Jesus's time.

Boltonlas, I have not heard this story about King James and the shipwreck curse. I'd love to hear more about that. It's been years since I read about the making and translation of this bible, but I remember the history surrounding it. For instance, when he became King, England was had been going through Reformation but it was not completely established; The Church of England was still around as the authority-with its Catholicism. Meanwhile the Reformers, the Puritans were also strongly established; and wanted the Church of England to lose its hold on the monarchy. James was from Scotland, and his agenda was to create a unified Britain and a unified Christian religion. He held a meeting with all the important people and that is where they all agreed to work on a Bible to represent everyone. I don't recall it having anything to do with witches, but the plague was happening killing thousands everyday; they took this to mean that their society was corrupt and God was punishing them all-but mostly the poor people because their souls were damned, especially the Irish living in the slums of Grub st.
I'll dig out my books on this and add more about the King James Bible later; by the way, did anyone know he had a male lover? LOL
*spirittalk, yes some people do educate themselves.

M'Lady DEAREST,
Unlike me, you did not use the QUOTE function of this forum, so I am not sure which gemstone of Spiritalk you responded to :-)
BUT the poignant virtue embedded in your response is hard to mistake or miss by Yours Affectionately (!)
We should always be sure of what we are talking about, ALWAYS, even in those TIMES when THEY do not understand! BUT eventually THEY will!
<TIMELY REMINDER IF I MAY?>
HAPPY EASTER!

In my opinion they should,...else how would they be sure about what they are talking about?

Lol Brother-minos yes i knew he had a male lover, and have read about all the people who were involved in the translation of the king james bible, and i didnt say that the bible translation had anything to do with "witches", just the change from"do not suffer fools" to "do not suffer witches" but please also remember that at 1 time it was an offence for anyone other than clergy to possess a bible (sorry cant remember the year the bible burning started) so in my honest opinion, how can anyone prove or disprove what has been added and taken out of the bible.
The shipwreck story i only came across recently myself
