Spirituality is not ESP, Psychic, Medium, etc. etc.  Spirituality is when we recognize our spirit in all its many facets and use them to grow in awareness of life.  Using those tools can enhance our spiritual journey.  

The first step when we are open (as you describe) is to TAKE CHARGE!  This means to find the understanding and awareness of what is happening, how it is happening and why it is happening for your own understanding as it manifests.  Find a good mentor or teacher.

Not sure if your still following this post but I did want to add that I too, know in a certain sense that of which your describing.
I can watch something on tv and ask a question about it---only for it to be answered within seconds.  
Im pretty new at this myself and have been very pleased with my progress thus far.  Keep searching for answers, it seems as if your on the right path to finding out what you suspect.  Believe in yourself even if no one else does.  

I too am convinced of psychic abilities and do not have much support from many of my freinds, they find it childish or ridiculous that i can take it seriously, it gets discouraging but I would never give it up and will continue to persue my interests I say explore it develop it. By the sounds of things you have quite the ability, and somthing like that should never go to waste

Thank you, I do try to keep myself open and not let my flat mate's (but very close friend) skepticism colour me. But it's quite hard because I am logical but also spiritual, so there is always a conflict. When I try and explain why I believe in ESP and religion with him, because I can't present him with the cold, hard facts. He just dismisses it. I think I need to trust my instincts more, especially seeing as I am going through a bit of a hard time with my boyfriend, my heart and my head are at loggerheads. I need to clear it all and see what I get.

You made me think about this man called Gary Kurtz!!

He is a mentalist, that what he calls him self, he sends and receives  messages the same way you do from people! He's been practicing for many years but the way you are describing your experiences, hes the one that popped in my head...
He does shows here in Montreal and he is fabulous!!
For example, out of the blues, he gets his eyes covered up and asks voluters to comes up stage after he got blindfolded and he guesses how the people are dressed, theyre ages, hair color, whats in theyre pockets, or purses and he even asked for a 50 dollar bill from one of them and by touching it, he guessed all of the serial numbers on it! He is really amaising.
He gets the information and he mentally suggests information... The same way you do... Personnaly I believe it is a gift that is worth working on because it is so extraordinaryand in your face !!!
If your are able to send messages, your are able to receive them as well!!
