You know its funny...I wouldn't have thought of asking spirit about time either! LOL It just comes to me sometimes that the obvious is the best solution. LOL
I have not studied crystals and their energies (which I know for sure they have) I do bring home a crystal for my grandchildren every time I travel. There is a special stone that is found in Alberta and it was so special to be able to bring that home to the kids.
One of my grandchildren carries her pink quartz as her 'healing' stone as she calls it. It just makes her feel better.

Angel, it must be so hard to have the gift that some of you have - that of being a psychic. I think you have to know that first, you are a human being with needs and responsibilities. Being psychic is a gift but there are other types of gifts that people have too, such as musical talent, writing, art, etc. For instance, my brother was born with the gift of hairdressing. He used to like combing my Barbie's hair when he was really little. He sorta gave away his talent for years, asking for only $5 a haircut. People got mad when he went up to $10. They had been spoiled! Another example would be a musician or band . . . when they give a concert and the concert is done, they get called back out for an encore. Then everyone keeps trying to call them out again and again. They have to say "that's it" at some point and so do you.
Another way to think of it is that you cannot deplete yourself for others. They have some responsibility in their lives. Perhaps you should suggest that they have a friend sit with them while you are doing their reading or at least be there to discuss it afterwards. Your mate is right . . . your time is important and while it is wonderful that you are such a caring person, people will take advantage. I used to lend my ear to people who were basically self-destructive. Now I have such an aversion to the phone that I end almost every conversation. I don't even call people back in a timely fashion. I feel "ruined" to a degree in this respect. By the way, I couldn't really help these people because they didn't want to be helped. I wasted my precious time, in the end.
It looks like you have gotten some great advice and thanks for your words about my Angelica on another thread.
