Dear ST...!
You almost sound sad, or at least resigned! :-)
If I were to approach someone for a psychic reading, I would expect simply that they would open their home so that I may enter and feel at home and then watch on their television, the show that I am destined to watch.
ONLY -- When I visit this psychic friend in this analogy, I would like to watch the realtime, NEWS broadcast that includes my concerns and worries!
As opposed to watching the cartoons or a Startrek adventure in these same loving and warm atmosphere!
Often it is like visiting an Emergency Room in a hospital and expecting that the attending doctor knows what is the problem with me!
TOO BAD, because there is something analogous for Preventive/Preventative Medicine in the field of Karma and spiritual maladies too!
Getting to crux of what is a psychic reading? and what do people want from a psychic reading? is a very delicate question. Because not all people read from ethics, there is a sense that they are all powerful and in charge. A good test would be to know their own background. If all was in their all powerful hands, nothing would challenge them in life.
A psychic reading is more about cheerleading the individual in their own choices, than making those choices for the individual. The sensitivities of the psychic outline possibilities and potentials. They are not cast in stone...nothing in life ever is...so it is up to the individual to choose.
Suppose you got up from your reading and thought to yourself...this is nonsense! Guess what...that is what you made it! NO benefit will ever come from a dismissal of the message.
Neither sad nor resigned. The fact is...people will be people. Many kinds and varieties seek psychic input. That much is true of all readings and what is sought.
It is important to remember that we are all individual people in all our talents, skills and abilities, as well. So those that read will have varying degrees of skills, just as the seeker will be individual in their tastes. I recently read an interesting way of seeing it...for every psychic, there is a client.
Yes, a psychic can address you from what your interests and concerns may be. But it would be totally unethical to buy into these fears and escalate them. Consider...if the psychic tells you something and you have placed faith in the message...it fills your mind and can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. What a wonderful psychic! is your response because it is fulfilled. But who actually fulfilled ANYTHING in your own personal life?
I know of someone who lay down and died because they were 'told' they were sick and going to die. They did not have a terminal disease as was considered prior to death. Our mind is what you were addressing with preventative medicine.
There is no Karma that is written in stone as to your suffering and death in this life. We have only one life...this one...in which to get it right or wrong. Looking back is not seeing our own potential for growth. It is merely buying into an excuse for not fulfilling our potential and possibilities.

Are you now saying/implying that discussions on these topics are meaningless? Why do we all hang out here, in that case ;-)
And this is just the mirror image of a much larger forum that once was! Same questions, same answers, same personalities doing the Maya-Play!
Perhaps somewhere there is a hidden script that we all are trying to locate. Or maybe an ancient scroll or something ;-)
Ah the magical thinking of childhood! It never grows and thank God it does not!!

I don't know how anyone can imply that from my posting! whereever did you get the idea I was saying not to hang out here and discuss? It is one of my favorite pasttimes, to be sure.
The more we know, the more we can understand things that happen to us as individuals. But it is still different strokes for different folks...and no one has the whole truth on any topic...least of all the psychic!
