Sinking down to the shadows of the pit of despair...
There is not returning -
'Tis a Lonesome... Cold place...
Maybe with hope I could make it
  but Alas... it has slipped away...
Faith is not strong in my soul -
  there is no peace in my heart.
I am leaded down with the burden of my folley -
No more can I soar like an eagle...
My life is precious...  The one thing I can hold,
  But it is a dreary one...
Alone through the darkness I must struggle
  for there is no light to see...
Aye!  Indeed there is a burning within me!
A longing for what can never be
  For my indecision made it impossible!
That Dream is sunk again...
Trapped in the shallows of my heart
  where it will torture this child forever...
And I will live in this sorrow...
  ...for eternity...

I'd suggest the title: Darkness. I like your poem, but I hope you don't feel that way every day. Brightest Blessings.

LOL  Thank you for the suggestion!  Actually, this poem has been in my collection since High School, which was, to say, quite some time ago!  LOL  Thank you for your well wishes tho!  I am quite enjoying reading the different poetic views of others in this forum!
