Grand Mothers
We all have two
Both lived with us for some time
I upset one of them big time at age seven
Spoke my mind
She pounced out of bed
Pummeled me with those bony fists of hers
Just body blows, nothing to the head
Oh how I wept
But must admit, I had it coming
She eventually moved into a place of her own
And I still visited her weekly, she lived just down the street
I’d go fetch her favorite paper
And listen to her, and to her tale of woe
While we would sip hot peppermint water, her favorite drink
I was my other Grand Mother’s favorite
Often she would give me candy
And nothing to my siblings
The reason why is simple you see
I took the time
To spend some time
And talk with her
Maybe you should think
Of contacting yours
Sometime today
After all it is Mothers day
You may not get candy
But who knows
Maybe that sweet old Lady has a lot of cash
Stashed away
If paper is your thing
My grandmothers were not wealthy but they sure were entertaining
each in their own way.
