Wrote this ages ago, thought i'd post it here.

The Mining of Perception

Lies are all around us
They cloud the mind and leave the truth as dust
But there are those who seek truth
With pickaxes of snooping
And shovels with ends sharp and looping
They look for truth to shine in this dark world.

They strain to hear the call of truth but the rock muffles the sound
For the glorious prize buried deep within the ground
Ching! The sound of the shovel of justice scraping
The pickaxe of faith shaping
The rock that is the earth
Suddenly the tunnel is lit by a deep warming glow
Implements of digging now have nowhere to go
For the truth now bathes us in light in this dark small low
Its raw form is beauty, humbleness and fear
It is a small flowing gold sphere
But there are those that would break it
Mould it shape it
Into something that would suit them
Beauty to fools but horror to truth
Another is lost to the cloud of lies

To be honest i've always thought of it as overdone and crass.

I wrote it in about twenty mintues for an english project on the last day (damn you procrastination)

I got an award for it and tons of praise but i never really liked it myself. Strange.

The best things in life come when we aren't thinking about them.

I can accept that, whenever i have to write something for english most of the time i find myself rapidly typing and eventually becoming less aware of what im doing and can write some nice stuff that passes for english (after heavy editing of course).
