To help alter the stigma of mental illness...

This poem is about a girl who experiences mental illness after her lover dies.  I'm just wondering, can you tell she's experiencing mental illness or not?  There is just the tiniest hint.

A Memory Of Love

I only have my memories
A keepsake so divine
Hidden within a silver locket
To keep your heart near mine

I kiss thee spirit free
The tide does ebb and flow
As I dream of an endless beach
I let your spirit go

The clouds mask my unhappiness
The winter is so bereft
While summer lit my golden skies
The cold took what you left

I can’t succumb to loneliness
You flew and paid your dues
Where angel wings adhered to you
The colour of softer hues

Your life had to reach the heavens
What could you do when gone?
The pain was more than overbearing
It hurt to end our song

To listen to your broad accent
A voice that calmed my heart
What silence pangs, a void in time
God broke us both apart

Life seems so empty now
I feel you far and near
And sometimes I feel you watch me
When I shed my painful tears

You’re just a memory my love
That’s why I look for quiet
When I heard the horrid news
Our house was in a riot

We organised a wake that night
How could one be to sleep?
I nearly died of all the fright
My heart could only weep

You‘re in my memory sweetheart
But don’t forget your home
You belong inside my beating heart
While your soul is free to roam

Such a vivid memory, but don’t be sad
It sounds much worse to you
My mind lives in heaven now
To make my thoughts know truth

You’re a memory of the highest form
A time we grew and soared
A union upon horizon’s border
Where peace over-rode the storm…

A Memory of Love

The hint is in this verse...

"Such a vivid memory, but don’t be sad
It sounds much worse to you
My mind lives in heaven now
To make my thoughts know truth"

Apart from that, all else is just like anyone could possibly feel after experiencing this kind of trauma...well, that's what I think anyhow.

Its an interesting poem and i do like it.  Its difficult to pick out mental health issues in it because in truth grief and illness share the same symptomology if you like.

I enjoy it because it tells a story and i am sure others will think the same way.
