I saw you on a set of a movie doing 'everything' for everyone.  You are a pleaser and a helper.  This is where you will pay your dues before the positions of your choice appear.  When you are willing to work for the good of the picture and not get caught up in personalities or that someone is more than important to the effort than you, then you will be content to pay your dues to get to where you 'belong' in your dreams.

Your past served to help you see that some people can be helpless and use it to manipulate others as well as to accept the help they need.  You do not wish to be in a position to rely on others - but no man (or woman) is an island and you do have some lessons coming in accepting help as well as giving help.

Trust me.... I know.... my last roommate was a woman who was also a habitual alcoholic/pill popper who had an emotional abusive ex-boyfriend/fiancee. The guy literally beat her out of her own car, almost ran her over and threatened to kidnap their child....

She went to his court hearing to keep him from getting sent to prison for 6 years and they put him in jail for about 6 months instead with parole to a halfway house.... I think they are together now and everything is Ok.. for now, but while living with her I did all that I could.. I helped her as much as I could.

I even quit my paying job to nanny for her under the promise of her pay me... that did not pan out at all... so... yeah.... Not again!!! Lesson learned and taken in full!
