Thanks for all who took part. I will fill you in on the house's details now. This is my house in Bulgaria. We have owned it for 2 years but only lived in it for just over one year. It is on the market now as we want to live somewhere different. However, the house is a lovely home to live in, very friendly neighbours, almost to the point of being too friendly, lol. It is a very happy home, full of fun and laughter most of the time. Although its huge, there is only me and hubby living there. We retired from England to live the rural life, growing veggies etc.
We are told by locals and by some of the previous owners who have called by to see the place since we had it modernised, that this house was owned for many years by the local holy man of the area. This would sound quite feasible as the church is exactly accross the road from the house. The grandson of the holy man told us of the 'old family story' about when the Turks and also the Russans invaded Bulgaia many years ago the holy men were often driven out of their homes and the churches closed down. When the owner of the house heard that he may be driven out, he decided to sell all his animals (apparently he also had several hundred goats, as well as being the church leader) and when he sold the animals all the money he got for them is said to be buried somewhere on the property ! Obviously he hoped to return one day when the fighting was over. No one ever found the 'hidden treasure' despite someone once getting a metal detector to search the land, lol. But according to the great great grandson, the money is still there somewhere. (Keep hoping that we did it up when we plant the veggies in the back garden, lol.)
So thats it folks. That is the history of the house picture. Thank you for having a go at reading it.

As long as you are just "hoping" and not "pursuing with the intent of finding", then you won't be disappointed.

LOL, believe me there is not one rism of doubt in my mind that if there HAD ever been money buried on this property the Bulgarians would have found it years and years ago. They are the most wonderul people I have ever met in my life. They have lived through so much, wars, oppression, famine, everything. But they are such wonderfully resilliant people, and soooooo hard working that it is unbelievable. Back in the UK, my husband and I used to work 12 hour shifts for 10 days at a time, and we thought that we knew what hard work was. Well believe me, we knew NOTHING. These people work hard from dawn to dusk 365 days of the year, with no thought of holiday, weekends off, nothing. They have seen hardship like we have never even dreampt existed. I have been told that when the end of communism ended, the communist support system that had provided EVERYTHING for them, work, schools, medical services, etc was litterally just stopped overnight. There was no goverment infrastructure to take its place. The mafia influence was rife. There was no money to pay workers, no money to pay for medical needs, it was a truly dreadful time when everything that they had known and loved for most of their lives had gone in an instant. Factories fell into disuse, food stopped coming to the villages and shops, everyone had no money, and no way of feeding their families.
Those who were able to supply food for themselves by growing it, or raising animals etc managed to eat. Those who lived in areas where there was not land to grow things, like in the cities, had one hell of a time surviving. It must have been a horrible time for them to live through, but they did. And it has resulted in these people being so self sufficent, so resiliant and so clever and hard working compared to us Brits. They think nothing of getting up at 5 a.m. in the morning, seeing to the animals, then going off to a days work in the fields, then coming home, doing the vegetable gardening at home, then seeing to the animals, and maybe sitting down for a meal around 9 at night.
Soooo, getting back to my previous ramblings about the 'buried treasure'. Im sure that with the hardship that these people have had to endure in the past. If there had been buried treasure on our land, then it would have been found many years ago. And by my thoughts......... they are so welcome to it. No one deserves it more.
