We treat people like animals and then we wonder why they bite back and act like animals. We dole out punishment for a crime or an act, but when that punishment has been paid, we ask yet for more retribution. We say the punishment must fit the crime, but instead we turn our children and our brothers and sisters into monsters. When they come to us seeking help, we deny them and claim we no longer know them. Who are we punishing, but ourselves? When the pendulum swings one day it comes full tilt. When that time comes, will you be ready? Will you be able to pay your dues and see the result of your choices?

I have moved this post,  I have made this decision for a couple of reasons

1.  its clear you want it seen

2.  Its in my opinion a philosophical debate as there are no right or wrong answers in your statement.

I am also unsure of its purpose so maybe we can see what other members think and allow them to carry this forward?

Regards

No worries Suzisco.

It's purpose is to see what others believe in terms of prison systems, wars and life in general. ie, we treat people badly but we expect that even if they are treated badly, they will obey or act as we want them to act. Instead, more times than not, people come out of prisons worse than when they went it. Another example is a child who is disciplined through excessive means bears resentment towards their parents instead of respecting them, etc. What I'm saying is, are we doing ourselves a disservice. This applies to other examples, but I chose these two to illustrate.

Looking Glass,

I will probanly regret this, but I will take on this challenge.

I pride myself on looking at both sides. I don't always have the qualifications, but I do try.

Please keep that in mind.

You have to consider that you don't state where you live. I only know the USA laws, and to break that down more,
Only Colorado.

Are you asking if I believe in the death penalty- yes I do.

If you are asking do I believe our prison system is right, no I don't.

I have had expeiriences where the person should be put to death, only 2.

I work with people who are in prison for various reasons, that they deserved,
but they did not come out better off. The system let them down. They will most likely do the same things over.
They don't have any choice.

The one's that have a choice and try very hard to make a differecnce, don't have a chance because of their past.

How do they win?????????????????

So Looking Glass- how do we fix this???????? If you had the answer, you wouldn't have asked the question!!!!!!

What would you do to fix this?
I think you have a personal reason for asking.
I will back you a thousand percent, if you have an idea.

If I overstepped, please forgive me.

Lots of love to you.

the court system prison system ,laws in general  are in a constant state of chaos  where do we start thats a good question  .for i know first hand the good side and the bad  for i have a family member who works for the adult probation department in my city.

there should be equal justice for all     not based on color religion location  or the main one money

we live in the untied states ,one set of laws for everyone   this would be a good place to start , as the current system gives the states the power to make there own laws and punishment for these laws   in some cases defying federal law .

i have been over in other countries  we in america dont have any ideal   remember the boy years ago  a american  in singapore I believe it was  that was caught spray painting cars   beat 20 times with a stick    here he would of got probation    america has the highest growing crime rate in the world

in other countries  crime is low because there is no second chance    its works believe me     you steal  they cut your hand off  you rape well i think you get the picture ..  sounds cruel   i dont think so .
