Problem being, ethics itself is quite subjective and therefore subject to controversy. What's ethical today may not be ethical tomorrow. Take the case of euthanasia. For the side arguing in favor, killing is probably the most ethical act, considering various factors such as pain etc. For others, the exact opposite seems to be ethical.
As one can see, there has to be an objective basis to determine what we mean by ethics, otherwise, all the diametrically opposing views must be considered as part of ethics. And that would lead to chaos.
I don't know anything about the job you do, but found the last line a little curious. Mind sharing?
