Black shadows are usually spirits which are mind find it hard to give a better definition. Those gifted with an active third eye can give more details. Its wise to be cautious around such as most are not friendly.

Many things create shadows. Check out the physical before assuming the paranormal.

I agree that you should first try and explain it naturally if a natural source cannot be found, then it's probably a spirit. Shadow spirits tend to be malicious....
