Meditation will help, also try creating a journal, and try to write just naturally letting it flow with out forcing it, but think about the time when you could see ghosts, spirits,
Then think aobut when this stopped, what happened prior to this not being part of your life anymore,
Write down your memories of when it did happen, even little things some of the memories may be detailed, others may not, but write down whatever you remember then let it go.
It may take a while to write those memories down, but when you have most of it, or an idea of it, and can go back and read when these times were that you could "see" and then read when you couldn't any more.
You may find clues as to how you lost this gift, was it because people around you told you it was all in your imagination, or that it is time to grow up,
maybe it is just that you needed them so they showed themselves as you said it was a comfort to you to know they were there. ... so why let go of that comfort? maybe you didn't need it anymore, or maybe you talked yourself out of it.
Then pick a day, when you know you will be home alone, where you can unplug or turn off phone, puter, tv, radio, take a shower or bath, this not only cleans the body it also cleanses the aura of the psi clutter we pick up from others. Do this at night, around or just before sunset, if possible.
Then try meditation after the shower, do some deep breathing, to let yourself relax, maybe light some candles if you feel that is a help to you.
Nothing may happen the first time, you may have to try this more than once, but don't time it, it is a time to just relax and let go.
While taking those deep slow breaths, send out the thought, or say out loud if you wish, that you are open to having contact with positive good energies, [don't want anything that isn't] ask your guardian angels to protect you, share their names with you, ask your guides to share who they are with you, then let the idea that those who have passed on who wish to visit, that are positive and friendly, know that you welcome them.
As I said nothing may happen the first time, you may just spend an hour or two relaxing, you may even lay down and sleep early, but even just having a relaxing time out from electronic interference, and the busy every day stuff can be helpful.
If you are aware of grounding and protection do that prior to inviting visits, if not find out about grounding and protection so you can do this, before inviting visits from spirit guests, it is always best to be safe.
but also know that what works for one person may not work for another, some need a more structured way of doing things, others do not.
The reason I suggested sunset was that at night things are not as busy, so there is less psychic clutter to interfere or interupt. If sunset doesn't work for you try doing this after what is considered normal bed time for many ie after 10 or 11 pm
