I have recently began working with my mind alot lately doing dream exercises and trying to induce new states of medtitation. I have been very sucessful in my attempts to create lucid dreams and have better dream memory. Now recently in some of my meditative states before sleeping i feel my body slipping upward and then i snap out of it because of some fearful parallyzing feeling and then i feel like i just drop back down. I understand this to be the start of an obe because of previous experiances with obe's[not self induced]. NOW the strange experiance i had was i went willingly past the point of droping back and i raised to the roof, as i was turning myself to see my self i seen my cat and he was hissing like crazy and staring right at me but it was a penetrating stare unlike ive seen {or felt} from him. At the point that i felt the penetrating gaze [which also felt like a life time] I slammed back into my body and it was quite painful {mostly in the lung area} and when i opened my eyes my cat was going nuts,  running donughts across my walls [i live in a 12x12 room in the middle of the bush at a rigging camp] ive never seen my cat act in such a way, kinda like how a cat is when a storm is going on but a little more intense. He didnt calm down for about an hour when i started playing my hemisync music.
i dont know if any one else has weird experiances with animals or obe's but this was a truly odd experiance for me

I have been prone to OBE's most of my life.  I often find myself flying about in lucid states seated in a Hri Krishna (cross-legged)fashion.  On one occasion, I recall floating to the ceiling as you experienced.  I was aware of myself lying in bed asleep and on the ceiling at once.  Quite a disconcerting feeling seemingly suspended between two worlds.  The experience lasted for what seemed an eternity as I floated out of the bedroom, through the den, down the hallway, and into the living area of my family home (I was around 20 or so).  Fearing that I would float out of the front door and into "outer space" "literally" to be lost forever, I  began to pray, "Our Father....." and was instantly returned to my normal waking state.  I got out of bed feeling shaken, having never experienced an OBE consciously or in a super-conscious state.  There were no cats or other pets nearby.  Cats are said to be the guardians to the underworld so it is possible that is the connection to your cat's frenzied state.  OBE's come in many forms as the spirit leaves the body each night to replenish returning to the etherworlds.  The fear of "floating away" is obviously unfounded as the soul is said to be attached to the body by a silver cord that is only loosed in death. (Ecclesiastes 12:6 (King James Version))  The sensation of being paralyzed while all other bodily functions seem operable is also a form of OBE.  The body awakens before the spirit fully reenters.  Sometimes called sleep paralysis or being ridden by the hag in some cultures.  I have personally experienced all three of these types of OBE's frequently, namely:  Sleep Paralysis, Flying, and Floating out of the body.  There is usually no conscious effort on my behalf to achieve these states as they appear to be naturally occurring.  Possibly due to my spiritual practices and beliefs as well as my zodiacal placement (Sagittarius The house of Travel, in this case Astro Travel and Projection)  Also I think my being born on the same day as the Famed Prophet Nostradamus helps to facilitate these phenomena.  On the Tree of Life, Sag is located at the center of the tree in the sphere of Tiphareth, Beauty.  This is the realm of Krishna, Christ, etc...  It is said to be 'the point where the personality, moving up, first ventures into the realm of the soul. It is where spirit, descending, first 'splits off' and becomes physical.' (www.ifdawn.com)  The middle path is often accessed by mystics and the like to ascend into the higher realms of Keter, Crown, or Ayn Soph Aur, Limitless Light.  I hope this information about my own experiences has been helpful.
