Telepathy is commonly used by superheros and supervillains in comic books, cartoons, and TV shows. Notable telepaths include Lwaxana Troi of Star Trek: The Next Generation; Lyta Alexander, Alfred Bester, and the rest of the Psi Corps of Babylon 5; and Jean Grey, Charles Xavier, and Emma Frost of The X-Men.
One extreme form of telepathy, called "pushing" is sometimes featured in fiction. Rather than simply "reading" thoughts, the possessor of this power is able to "push" thoughts, feelings or hallucinatory visions into the mind of another person. Notable "pushers" include the charactor dubbed Pusher from The X-Files, Jedi fom the Star Wars universe, and Charlie's father from Firestarter.

Telepathy is one of the Phenomena being identified in the psychic mediumship abilities and is found to exist very strongly with those willing to open and understand.
