Hey everyone!  Sorry if I seem like a leech but I'm too broke to pay to see a palm reader so I was hoping you all could help me.

I'll give as much of the story as possible. First off I'm left handed. A few years ago I was visiting some friends in a small town. They threw a party where there were at least 15 people I did not know and only a handful I did know. Everyone was talking about this one woman that was supposed to come to the party. Pretty much everyone agreed she had spiritual talent (I don't know how else to put it). Lo and behold she came to the party. We were introduced, she was very friendly and nice. She told me what many spiritual people have said, that I have an old soul and asked if she could read my palms. She looked at my left hand and seemed pleased. The only thing she told me about my left hand was that I would come very close to death at some point in my life but I would live.

Then she looked at my right hand. Her face looked concerned at first, then she stretched my skin for a minute. Then she stopped abruptly, looked at me, told me she couldn't go on and had to leave. She looked really weirded out. Right after that she left the party. She was only there for five minutes. Her friends stayed and everyone agreed she had never reacted like that with anyone before. The next day the wife of the person I was visiting called me the devil.

I brushed it off for a while but it popped back in my head recently. Then I dreamed the encounter last night. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I think I should qualify what I am saying a bit more. I'm not asking am I an evil or bad person. I believe one can choose how they want to be. What I am asking is if there are circumstances where this has happened to someone else or has someone done this to someone and why. Stupid me, I guess pics of my palms would help... I'll upload those in a minute.

My opinion: You were hanging out with some weird people that night!! For one thing, who would call someone "the devil" unless they did something to deserve it? The girl reading your palm sounds a little fraud-y to me. I can't say that for sure, naturally. But those kinds of large claims and no backing or details are suspicious, in my opinion. She sounds a little like a television character from this description. Or someone involved in a drama club! What was her age?

Anyway, from my understanding here is the difference between reading from your left and right palm: The common perception about the palm you use least (in your case, the right) is that the lines are very close to the way they were when you were born, they will not be nearly as defined as your left palm's lines. You might notice some darker, deeper lines in your left palm, maybe some of the lines make more solid connections while your right might have more breaks and look generally a little more messy. Your writing hand, or the one you use the most actually changes over time. Your lines are not written in stone, but rather, in skin! And it's a bit more maleable. As your life changes, so do your lines. Not dramatically, but they certainly can look different over time. Thus your life is not written in stone. It seems to me, then, that the only information you can really find out from looking at both hands is comparing where your life has changed and what directions you have taken over your lifetime. It definitely can't tell you anything like whether or not your are the "devil". Generally, also, people do not tell you when you will die. You may find from your life line if there are heavy deep lines crossing it that you could have a major health problem. It certainly won't indicate whether or not you will die, however. Or when.

Other things you can find  from a palm reading, are things like health and nutrition levels (based on nail color, markings, and other things). A good palmist will focus on things like this, and things like personality traits you have, and will likely tell you much more useful things than what this one seems to have told you.

Frankly, there ARE people out there who are simply not good at what they do. So always keep that in mind.

I will also add: the most important thing to look for in a reader of ANY kind at all, is someone who can treat you with EMPATHY. If they can't connect with you on an empathetic level or tell you things in a practical way that shows they actually care about the person they are reading, quite simply they aren't doing the job right, and I would question their motivations.

Dear Dustpan,

You have not posted your palm prints? Such readings are given by people who want to impress you in a big way. Now all your life you will keep wondering what is wrong with you and you might even try to locate that lady's address and contact her. If a person cannot give any logical eplanation for a reading and give a reading logically then it is of no use. Forget her for your own good.
