I was curious about relationship/marriage lines because my parter of 6 months has one line in the middle but before me she had a partner of 6 years and also had a few before that too..

And I also have had a few partners (none long term) but I only have one relatio ship line located in the same spot as my partner.

So I guess what I'm wondering is why is there only one line if we've both had a few partners before?

Only those relationship that leave a lasting impact on you are registered there prominently. If the relationship line is short and dim then the relationship will have the same strength.

Prominent relationship line normally result in union and it could be marriage or personal attachment too. In Indian Culture I always say it is marriage, though with live in relationship in vogue in metro cities we may soon have to change that concept of marriage. Still marriage in India is considered sacred and people do live the whole length of their marriage -- a greater percentage do.
