I have usually seen children... new borns especially have their hand in a fist with the thumb inside. what is the significance of this?

My brother's child was born with her fist open

What does that imply?

Old Indian saying: With folded fist it means the child has brought all his wealth from up there and when he opens it, it means wealth in the family and this is even more true when a Girl child is born --- Laxmi.

Palmistry meaning: Child born with closed fist and thumb inside means the will power of the child is inactive. As it grows older it starts acting differently as the thumb now gradually comes out and will power makes the child assert itself. When a man is in coma as long as the thumb is outside the man cannot die. When the thumb goes inwards nobody can revive that man as his will to fight for life is over.

In olden days when beggars begged they had this thumb inside their palm indicating their sorry state of affairs. Will power is totally subdued and hence the begging. So the thumb holds the key to your health too for will makes you survive.
