What is the meaning of an upward line branching off the heart line touching an affection line?

It can mean the matters of the heart affecting the marriage/marriage type relations adversely. This sign always affects adversely the affection line.

What is more important is to gauge if it is an upward line or a downward one. Only seeing the actual lines would help.

However an upward line would see too much concentration towards the affection. Too much of anything, even focus is not not good. If it cuts the marriage line it shows ego crossing paths adversely.

In case of a downward line it could be loss of a spouse/girlfriend or severe disappointment/divorce regarding the relation.

There could be many variations of these lines though.

I have never seen such a hand with a branch of heart line merging with affection line however logically when a branch rises up under any mount attraction towards people of that mount is indicated (as per Benham). So attraction towards Mercurian subjects is indicated. The line merges into affection line will mean affections concentrated with a mercurian subject i.e. a kind hearted or business like or it could be a person who is doing research. These are the three indications of the three phalanges of mercury mount. Off course the person could also be with a powerful vocabulary and thus very good power of speech. Affections concentrated with a mercurian subject may lead to problems in married life if there is some disturbance in Life Line, Fate Line, Head Line or elsewhere but at the same time it may also lead to total acceptance of that partner as much superior human being. This will have to be confirmed through other lines as explained above.

Still on seeing the palm it could be predicted better.
