As far as I remember, your descriptions are quite close.

The top phalange refers to spiritual/emotional/mental aspects. The second phalange refers to practical/materialistic aspects. The third phalange (which is attached to the palm) refers to the "Bhog" aspects, i.e., basal values and pleasure/enjoyment.

The relative strength/weakness depends on the length as well as diameter of finger at that particular phalange. There is some texts which indicates the ideal ratio of phalanges. If i remember correctly, the 2nd & 3rd phalange shall be equal and the top phalange shall be 7/8th size. The presence or absence of knots between phalange also indicate where the activity is more pronounced.

Regarding presence of extra phalanges, there are some discussion vavilable in "Palmistry primal focus". it is argued that an extra phalange indicates something extra or special. Although some say that the 'special' ability comes at some cost, as it reuces the effective area of another phalange.

'Hope BSS, Pravin Kr & other experts of the forum will shed some light on this subject.

I have been trying to find out more about extra phalangeal creases and how they affect the people who have them. Not much seems to be known about how to interpret them. I have been collecting comments from people who have extra or missing creases, ie 2 or 4 phalanges on fingers. So far their comments agree with what chakra has said about an enhanced ability in some area - eg extra crease on mercury finger often brings good powers of communication / work involving communication.
Usually the extra crease is just a crease and not an extra knuckle joint (ie the finger doesn't bend in an extra place).

Extra creases seem to be more common in people from Asia and Africa than in Caucasians.
Often there are other members of the family who have it too, so must be some genetic aspect.

There are a few photos and comments on my website, I have some more info to add to it, but I don't have enough info to make any conclusions about it. So would love to hear more from people who have this feature, about strengths / weaknesses in the subjects ruled by the finger.

Thank you for replying to my message.Chakra thanx alot for refreshing my memory about properties of phalanges. As u and lynn are saying about enhanced power or sumthing different bout extra phalange

enhanced ability in some area - eg extra crease on mercury finger often brings good powers of communication / work involving communication.

i agree that your rit but lets c.If one phalane is missing how to decide which 1 is missing phalange coz its always gona be middle phalange missing the top and base cant be missing (unless ur 1 finger is in air ) and another thing is
if there r 4 phalanges then what type of power enhancement we can expect. lets take saturn finger's middle phalange. since length of tht phalange usually gets small bcoz of presence of that one extra phalange whats extra we can expect from the person. Will it make person more responsible and more serious towards his work.

According to William benham the horizontal line cozes problem in flow of energy so this extra line shud be negativ, denying our assumption bout extra capability.so what do you people think.can we find more affect of this line.

thankyou for helping me.hope u people wud be able to help me in understanding this much better.

Yes, definitive information on extra crease in phalanges are not easily available.

In case of normal fingers, the knuckle (phalange joints) and crease are supposed to regulate blood / power supply. Like a prominent knuckle is supposed to ensure more residence time of blood/power in the phalange above it & hence that way it modifies the action. A strong knuckle joint of the top phalange is supposed make a man more thoughtful & logical as blood will have more residence time in top phalange.

But the question is - whether creases also play similar functions or not. A knuckle joint basically divides the finger in three distinct portions - indicating clear division between emotional/materialistic & basal characteristics. An extra crease (by same reasoning) in any phalange may mean additional division of thinking process in that area. May be the person is capable of thinking the same issue from upper part of brain (logical) as well as lower part (intuitive) separately rather than in an integrated way.

Anyway, the above is speculation only. If it is a strong characteristic, it should be reflected somewhere else also - like say Line of head etc.

The palm shape & fingers are mostly decided by genetics & hence it is expected that extra creases etc. shall be genetic in nature.

Bye
