what does an island on the headline signify?
i know two people who have it and would like to know the significance.

Dear Swetha,

Islands on the headline signify a weakness of some sort because the energy is split. Unfortunately I dont have the knowledge to tell you with certainty what kind of weakness it is. If it regards a health issue, this should also be visible in other places of the palm (life line, line of liver, markings on the lunar edge of the palm). If there is an influence line coming from the positive mount of mars which ends in the island you described, something or someone is having a significant negative effect on that person.

Namaskaar Swetha ji,
I will provide a totally different meaning for this indications. Please understand that i am not a alarmist in my approach but, it is a meaning that i have confirmed many a times. Not that i told the same to the person, but just asked  casually.

The Head line is called the  Matri Rekha in Samudrik and if the head line has a Island and the fate line starts from between the Moon and Venus mount ( the mount of Ketu ) then it shows some problem to the Mother and the person may be denied Motherly happiness during Childhood.

Interesting theory vivekvshetty, (don't worry no brickbats here). But don't u think there is more to having an Island on the Head line then just denial of motherly love??. Not that I meant to say denail of Motherly love is a small thing, it is a rather hugh problem for the person in question. But I have the feeling that there is more to it.
