Well, I have read and I think that the major lines never really undergo changes...
it is the minor lines that appear and disappear...
"heptica" is a line to watch for in matters of ilness

Dear Friends,
I have never read that the lines disappear after Death. In fact in William G. Benham's Book Laws of Scientific Hand Reading it is clearly written that they do research of the hand by looking at the hands of dead body. One knows how the person dies i.e. through illness or accident and what type of illness or accident or if suicide and then they seek the confirmation from the hand. This is how you can verify whether your theory matches that of practical. If the lines disappear then how can you do the research.
Maybe longtime after death the lines may disappear as the Brain stops functioning and the theory is the lines are connected to the Brain through the nerves.

I have read that a surgeon commented that if the nerves supplying the hand are severed, the lines may disappear from the palms. The idea of this is that if energy cannot travel through the wrist and into the hand, then the lines, in representing currents of energy from the brain, will eventually disappear. It is difficult to be certain whether this is correct or not, and I believe the only true way of finding out would be to ask a surgeon, or someone who has had the nerves cut in their wrist, but still left with a hand!!!!!
I happened to see some years ago, rather grotesquely, a hand preserved in a jar, with all the lines intact!
