The Rosicrucians ( in 17th century society of philosophers and scholars versed in mystical and metaphysical and alchemical lore )are a legendary and secretive order dating from the 15th or 17th century, generally associated with the symbol of the Rose Cross, which is also used in certain rituals of the Freemasons.

The Rosicrucians are still around.  The Ancient and Mystical Order of the Rose Cross (AMORC) is accepting members at www.rosicrucian.org.  There are a couple more groups who go by the name Roscicrucian, but none that have the traceable ancestry and lineage of AMORC.

The Order can trace its roots to Francis Bacon, John Dee, and Johann Valentin Andreae (during the late 16th and early 17th centuries).  In actual philosophical approach, the Order goes back to the Ancient Egyptian Mystery Schools; but actual historical records are difficult to come by for a "secret society" over 2000 years old.

I'd be glad to answer any questions asked about the Rosicrucians, in so far as I am able.
