Hope everyone has a lovely few days celebrating this

The start of the Spring and renewal of the goddess, It’s a time of the Earth (and Goddess) re-awakening after the darkness of winter and it’s a time of new life - where bulbs being to push out of the ground, colour returns and baby animals are born.

It is said that the years weather can be gauged from the weather on Imbolc (this has been carried over to America as ‘Groundhog Day’ (Feb 2nd). If the weather is good on the day then winter will continue to run for longer. If it is bad weather then winter is nearly over.

Seems strange wishing for bad weather doesn't it?

This is my favorite Holy Day of the Celtic year, in Scotland it marks the time of the sheep giving milk, and that is renewal. Brigid is the Goddess of the season, and interestingly her worship has even been implemented by the Christians, at least the Irish Catholics! They changed her  from the Goddess to just a "Saint" but hey it allowed worship of her to gain the sanction of the Catholic Church and her Altar flame still burns. I am a devotee of Brigid and my Battle Sword is dedicated before her Altar.
Merry Imbolc
