Gold for goddess or feminine aspect of deity and silver for god or masculine aspect of deity.
black for binding-- not to be used lightly or frivolously.

Also, if you do not have the proper color candle for what you are looking to do,
you can use a white candle and name it the color that you need.
Thus, "Candle, I name you Yellow."

Brown can be used for animal healing.

I pretty much know what colors to use for what ritual purpose. I've got a candle magick book I haven't had the time to read yet but there is a question I have. I know the candles need to be solid colors, oiled and so forth but when purchasing candles does it matter if they are scented?? Candles can be purchased cheaply these days but they always seem to be scented in some form and not just plain ole colors.

This is completely un-traditional, but I've found that specific candles call me for specific purposes. They usually aren't teh color I would pick for the event... For example, when I was doing a ritual for peace and balance, I felt teh need to use a red candle. Red is traditionally used for sex, love, passion, or intense energy- not peace or relaxation. However, the flame was bright and the ritual left me feeling quite balanced. I guess my point is that you shouldn't always follow traditional candle colors for events; listen to your heart, it usually knows exactly what you need... And you're better at interpreting candle's reactions than you think; remember, your interpretation of your surroundings is essential to your goals, rituals, spells, or magick.

I burn candles in conjunction with reading corresponding Psalms for the necessary help that I am looking for.

It is always best to stay right away from anyone wanting to cause others harm. This is not the Universal way.

Black candles however are used for banishing and casting out negative thoughts. So use with wisdom and love. I think you've helped me realise one of the things I need to do.
