By it being the first number that can be divided, it is often look at as the fundamental number for division. The number two is attached to the term "Revelation" as well. It has also been used when referring to discord and even war. Ruin and death is also within its context.

Six : 6 - : deals with the number of man. This number is also used when referring to (human labor) or (secular completeness)

: The number six is also attached when describing the constant battle between spirit and flesh.

Forty : 40 -  deals with some sort of probation or trial.

: The number forty has also been used to describe a divine period of judgment.

Another interesting tid bit of info on this particular number combination I remember from a song by Tool by the title Forty-six and 2, which references a fascinating theory by a man named Drunvalo Melchizedek. Here is the wikipedia info on the title of the song:



The song is about transformation through the darkness and "shedding skin," which I think relates also to another of Melchizedek's theories about the "Earth's Kundalini or Serpent of Light"

I know this may or may not be numerology related, but it is a good tid bit of association with this number. Because of this song I always associate this number combination with true transformation, represented in the form of a snake shedding its old skin to face what had been hiding underneath in the light, and allowing that change to form, making way for it.
