I'm glad you are taking an interest in Numerology!  

There is no science or metaphysical teachings that are 100% accurate.  If there were, there would be no need for anything else, as it would be the end all be all.  

Getting your information from a book is a good start, but know that there is not one "complete" source on Numerology.  Every numerologist has their own different and special way of interpreting the numbers.  While numbers have general characteristics, a lot of times they go deeper than that.  

If you are finding for example, that the 8 description doesn't suit you, you also have to look at other numbers in your chart.  There are other numbers in your chart that either enhance or soften their effect.  So one with a prominent 8 in their chart, may find the characteristics softened by a more timid 2.  

One must also take in account the various cycles.  Cycles have great effects on how we feel not only internally, but how we also act externally.  

It should also be noted that some of us grow into our numbers from different experiences that we go through life. So if you have an 8 but find yourself not being looked to as a power type of person, maybe it is because you have yet to develop the CEO skills in order for people to perceive you that way.
