A heart attack can be defined as the condition that occurs when a part of the heart’s wall muscles is deprived of blood. This may lead to the death of some muscle cells. This happens when blood supply isn’t regular and is blocked by fat deposits or blockages.

The Framingham Heart Study can be used as guideline to take preventive measures that can eliminate or reduce the risk of a heart attack. By controlling the different factors one can reduce the risk of heart attacks. The different factors that have to be taken into consideration in calculating the risk of suffering from a heart attack are Gender, Age, Total Cholesterol, “Good” Cholesterol (HDL), Blood Pressure, Smoking, Diabetes and Ventricular Hypertrophy.
