I give them a 0.
For being bad. Painful, lacking in story, see through, predictable, and anti-feminist in the terrible Mary-Sueism of the characters, written as a blank canvas for self insertation, and brings no other message then having a hot, supernatural BF is important. Sure, I admit it's fine train literature, and leaves nothing behind, but the hype? I dont' understand it.
As one person said : It's about a young girl's choice between bestiality and necrophilia. :P
It's the same old, boring teen cliche given a new 'sparkly look' (pun intended) for better marketing.
As for 'understanding girl' - I as a girl who liked books found it annoying. It made me feel like it was continually dumbed down. That made me angry. - Using fancy words does not make a good writer.
As for the film.
- I gave up about 20 minutes in. I found it so bad it made Poltergeist II look like art.

| I finished the Bree Tanner book and thought it was pretty good. It will make seeing Eclipse again more interesting knowing the backstory. |
