I chanced to come across the term identity theft. What does it mean? Is it a plausible idea, or just an invented one that exists only in imagination?

We are identified in so many ways.  With the paper trails of life our identity is found in who we are and what we do.  Identity is a real and personal thing.  And when someone uses the chosen internet name and/or our given names to do things with our paper existence, we become non-identified by the intrusion.  It is like someone taking over our life and living it for us.

Since an Identity define something special...something unique....then Identity killing would be to broaden this so the uniqueness vanish.

As if several other persons start to use your ID's and behave like you, then they kill your Identity because you have to prove you are you, since the unique has vanish.
