I think mediumship is being connected to each other through strands of awareness. When a reading of anything is done, a thread of awareness has to be connected between the medium and the person the reading is being done for. Otherwise, all kinds of flotsom is bound to come up and make the reading unusable for anybody. Does anybody have anything they could add?

Attunement to our own spirit guide helps us make that attunement to our client/sitter/enquirer as well. It is all in order of attunement.

This presupposes that the reader is interested in making that attunement that is the best possible source for themselves and their client. Some readers are using the energies that exist around us all from the mental, emotional, material, spiritual aspects.

Just a couple of questions on how it works?

Im guessing every medium works in communicating with spirits in different ways? Can you only sometimes hear them, or do they just give you impressions in your mind to get their answer across? Do you see them? Do you know how they passed over? Does it depend on how strong the connection is?

Sorry for so many questions but it fascinates me!

I think I'm a little unique (only because I've never heard anyone else describe the same experience) in that I neither hear voices (aside from some ringing or "clicks" in one ear or the other when someone wants my attention, and possibly some voices when I'm just falling asleep or waking up) nor "get impressions" --I actually see what's being said written out, either with my eyes open or closed. Sometimes it's startlingly clear--it's as if I can see words being written out very clearly and precisely in the air in front of me; other times it's harder to see, and sometimes it's damn near impossible (drives me crazy...

)!

I can see spirits, too, both in the dark and often in the light. They don't look like "real", living people as you see them on TV and movies; often they're just "shadows of light" or single or multiple lights moving together, or clouds of changing color--very beautiful. Sometimes they move very much "like us"--maybe a little faster and more gracefully (more graceful than ME, anyway!). My guess is that they just do that for the sake of my being able to see them better. I don't have any way to recognize one over the other, unfortunately--that can make things a little confusing, but I'm hoping that with time I'll figure that one out.

I can also feel myself being touched, or reach out and feel something tangible within the colors and movement. Most of the time it feels wonderful.

J: We are all unique, individual beings and our mediumship (communicating with spirit) is as unique as our individualism. While we work in a unique manner, there are many exercises, techniques, and ways that work to reach the highest source possible. It is all mostly a mind exercise. There is some physical phenomena being done, but is mostly mental mediumship practiced these days.

An interesting experience that happened just yesterday: As I was sitting in a small meditation group, my attention was drawn to a gentlemen next to me. I could smell a mixed bunch of flowers (we had some on the side table so I wanted to dismiss the experience) then instead of dismissing it, the smell went to damp earth complete with the smell of mixed flowers - which turned out to be different than the ones in the material environment. It was symbolic of course and an explanation for each and every flower in the garden was offered. A message is formed in many ways - don't ever dismiss any sense as not important or valid.

Do you see them?

J: This is as individual and unique as the medium themselves. Sensing allows that there are some form of energies on the air that help the medium to 'know' - sometimes thought of as seeing. While for others, it is as clear as anyone else in the material vibration. It is unique to the individual medium.

Do you know how they passed over?

J: The first step in attunement with the spirit realms, following a personal attunement with a spirit guide, is to ask questions - who, what, where, why, how works best. Your spirit guide is the person you will communicate with, not every spirit that passes by. The reason for this is your own protection and growth of mediumship. The fact is we are compatible with some vibrations and not compatible with others on the earth plane. Would this be any different with a discarnate spirit?

Does it depend on how strong the connection is?

J: The more you attune to your own personal spirit guide, the stronger you create the bond and partnership that forms between the earth and spirit. It is this bond that makes for mediumship practices at the highest level.

Please continue to ask. As unique beings, we are all going to have slightly different experiences. The secret to the material provided is to read and understand the process as you tweak and change to make it your own. The sharing of experiences helps you understand yourself and your mediumship.
