Thank you for your thoughtful response, Spiritalk. I want to emphasize that I'm not dismissing anything that you tell me, but I just need to weigh all of the input that I get from people and from spirits based on my own experiences and beliefs, and do my best to learn. I've just learned not to assume that anyone has all the answers (one reason that, although I was raised Catholic, I don't ascribe to any organized religion), and that sometimes I just need to trust my best instincts and God/Goddess/Spirit/Spirits/Whoever the creator may be.
As I said, I do take this all very seriously. And I do enjoy most of it and consider it a gift, but I have had some VERY frightening times as well. (When I mentioned that I used to feel that I needed to stay up all night and argue with spirits until D. finally convinced me to stop, I didn't say that in many ways it was kind of an attack--vicious threats, insults, tricks, curses--and I was really scared at times, because I didn't know what could or couldn't happen. But, with D.'s help and by experience, I learned that the worst thing that I could do was to be afraid, and that nothing that I could say was going to stop it. All I could do was to ignore it as much as possible, and pray like crazy--it worked. I still have trouble sometimes, but NOTHING like that terrible time. In other words, I am capable of learning, although there's a lot more in that particular area that I'd like to learn!
One thing that has helped me a great deal is the journal that I've been keeping since last February. When things get unclear, or frightening, or frustrating, I can often go back and see patterns, or see where I've made mistakes or misunderstood things, or get a better idea of what "works." It's comforting because I find that, in spite of all of the different things that happen, there is a consistency in the message, and I do feel that I'm progressing (still not exactly sure towards what, other than becoming a better and more spiritually aware person--long way to go, but I've got time, I guess!).
In any case, I still value your input (and anyone else who is thoughtful--not necessarily right--about things), where you're willing to offer it. Yes, I have a tendency to do things my own way, but I'm also capable of considering others' ideas where they seem applicable. I fully expect to make a lot of mistakes, and I fully intend to learn from all of them.
Take care,
Doe

Read your blog. Ghost coming to you. Well I did belong to a ghost chasing group once but my wife told me to get out of them. It was fun going to cementaries at night with a group. Never would go alone. But the most strangest thing is when I woke up one night and saw a old woman with a bun hairstyle next to my bed. I told her to go away and she just faded away. Spooky indeed. Then there is the one night woke up and 2 ugly spirits lunged at me. They faded real close to my face. That is where the night light comes in. So I have had encounters like you. None in broad daylight like David does. He does that? That would scare me. Also belonged to a paltalk chatroom called haunted palaces and places or something like that. They were so neat. If it was anything psychic or ghost related we talked about it. But it ended. I loved them. Was off thursday nights back then and it was from 7pm till 9pm. A little radio show with call ins. It was great. I even got to ask a psychic a question on air. Ok. Time to eat. Take care. Fred.

Hi, Fred!
Well, David IS my "main spirit", so he's not too worried about things--daylight or dark (and he keeps me from worrying about them too) .
The "ghost-hunting" thing--at least in my opinion--can be fun, as long as it kind of sticks to the historical end of things, and doesn't seem to disrespect or harrass actual spirits. I have done (and written about) some "ghost tours" in various cities--it's a great way to learn about the less-obvious and often more interesting sides of a city's history (and can make it more interesting for kids, too! ).
It's VERY rare that any of it scares me, at least now that I have more of a handle on things, and have learned that I can totally trust David to keep an eye on that end of things (as well as some others!). Spirits, after all, are/were just people--although the ones we tend to see, I think, are usually the ones having a hard time (unless they're here to guide and comfort, etc.). Most aren't out to hurt anyone, and the ones who are have little more than fear to work with (at least in my experience).
Thanks for looking at the blog!
