A really interesting spirit presence happened to me...I was getting ready for the funeral of a friend, who I was doing the service for, when he appeared in my mirror.  He was smiling, laughing and joking - his usual demeanour - and it helped me prepare.

Thoughts do come to me prior to a reading and I see where they are needed.  That is not unusual.  

I would never welcome a spirit on a random basis - before, during or after a reading.  They are directed through my guide.

After doing all the usual stuff on opening up i do welcome all any spirit through that come with out harmfull intent my guides let through those i can handle some are frightened and don't come forward for a few days then when they trust me they speak to me at this point their no longer a shadow i can see them which is when i help them cross i do this not for the living I'm more interested in the lost/frightened spirit

so i think we will have to agree to diff on the point of who is welcome and who isn't on one occasion i did take on more than i could handle this was a particualy nasty spirit that through energy my guide stepped in front of me and immediately closed me down but i will get stronger so that i can deal with these as well

When 'stuck' spirit need aid and help, there is a band of angels and spirit helpers on the other side that is opening the medium on the earth side to communicate (they are closer to the earth vibration and that is who they will hear and listen to)  This is the method of rescue.  We are not alone at any time in our attunement, when they come from the light there is no difficulty.  When not from the light it would be wise to have that help before proceeding.  Each to their own of course.
