to what extent do you get distanced from your surroundings while you are meditating? is it possible to be completely oblivious of whatever is happening around you?

Our mind is a wondrous tool.  I like meditation where I envision my own place and space.  In this way the outer world fades and becomes indistinct from my garden of peace.  I also use soothing music that keeps the soul at peace.

Meditation should be a calming of the thoughts
and the awareness should be listening with the
eyes closed.  Using a mantra or peaceful thot:
will begin the relaxing of the mind and allow a
tension setting of the body to slip away and on
premise you are ready to meditate on Natural
Thoughts ,. should allow the mind and body to
be without thought basis and relax into medita.
Common forms of meditation include mantara,
and visual relaxation .. enjoy a subsiding mind    and begin the awareness of peaceful thoughtless biorythym.     Evard
