Hmmm. Praying.
I was born Catholic and when I was younger it was very serious to me. Over the years I have felt that praying 'can' be hypocritical in that the 'God' that we are suppose to pray to should really be ourselves. I think we first have to believe in ourselves before we attempt to believe in something or someone we cannot see or feel. Can anyone really say that they believe in themselves 100%? Probably not.
So, I have changed my direction and practice and meditate that it is 'I' that I truly believe in. Ego does not enter the equation at all. Influences of others whether they be family, friends or peers affect our future and influences us in some way of how we think and react. Look at today's 'scary' world and the judgments and decisions that we have entrusted our lives to. Our world as we know it has changed so much for the worse in the last few years. It will take more than prayer to compensate for the idiotic mentality that has changed us.
For 'me', meditation is the closest possible solution in calming our mind so that we can make sensible and rational decisions in this ever changing world.
Sorry, if I got carried away from the original topic . . . it's my 1st post.
Peace
