Personally, while I think it is great to know this technology exists and to be able to use it yourself to create any effects or results you want is absolutely fabulous.

I can not help but see the ethical problems in using the technology on other people without their knowledge, which is equal to against their will.
Using it on yourself, you know you are not trying to make your self want anything or to feel a void to fill - but the opposite, to know you have what you need to succeed and to feel full and satisfied with what comes into your life or what you do already have to make use of and enjoy.
Thus, using the technology to create in others a state of want and need just to make them feel compelled to buy more products can become post hypnotic suggestions in the minds of others that may act upon a person's mind in any number of ways to harm their well being or mental and emotional stability. :( The variables of how this technology might work differently on different individuals is not possible to calculate accurately. Is this not one very good reason why it is banned for use by advertisers (or so they say)???
I understand that there are many people who simply do not care at all about the ethical ramifications of using this technology on other people to increase their own gain, which raises the question of whether or not it is really helping those people to use it on themselves, the very people in whose hands this technology could be quite damaging to other people.
In a world where adverstisers and sales persons would use this kind of technology to their own advantage at others' expense increases the need for individuals to use the same technology to counter, and to counter balance the effects of imposed programming that has nothing to do with an individuals own personal goals, needs, or desires. More and more, people in today's world are looking for meaning and purpose for their lives outside of and beyond materialism's growing emptiness... many people who experience inner emptiness associated with programming given to make them feel dissatisfied and empty become self-destructive, depressed, anxious and suicidal. People in these states do not actually buy more products, and often return the products they do buy on impulse.
I do not believe that subliminal programing can used ethically on people without their knowledge and against their will in the general sense. Better to focus on programming yourself to manifest in your own life what you want to need and to let other people program their own selves as they will.
My guess is that most people who would vote against programing being used on them by others for others own advantages, would also be in favor of being able to use it on their own own selves for their own purposes and advantages.
