What a forum, Amazing!

I follow the teachings of Anandmurti Guruma. She has released CDs for 4 or 5 different methods of Meditation. I have learnt elementary Indian Classical Music so I could follow the one based on Music.

I feel one has to experiment with different methods and settle for the most suited one.

I usually listen to music CD to meditate, lately I use a sublinimal CD for meditation which I think is great but guide CD meditation have done more for me, since it helps me to stay focus by listen to the voice. I had tried meditation laying down and sitting as well. The one laying down, made me feel kind of droggy afterworth. The one sitting down, mades me more aware, awake and full of energy, don't know why. I try to meditate twice a day and it seems to be helping alot in learning more about relaxation.

I find that drumming helps me. It seems that I'm more easily able to quiet my mind if I have an outside sound to focus on. Chanting mantras also helps.

I've just recently started meditation, and how I was told to start was, sit in a chair, feet flat on the ground, back straight.  Start with 10 or 15 minutes on a timer.  Close your eyes and focus on your breathing.  Breathe in for the count of 5, out for the count of 5.  Concentrate on your breathing, and the counting, and if stray thoughts come into your mind, focus again on the breathing and counting.  This is just a starting point.

It is not only difficult to meditate when MIND is occupied with negativity, but it is difficult too, when your body faces discomfort while meditating.
Posture for meditation are many. We should adopt what is most suitable to us. We can even meditate while walking in a park or woods. Even  at traffic signals, while taking a pause at driving!!
What are your methods of mediatation??
