SIR, I WANT TO KNOW IT IN DETAIL, ABOUT THE  DEGREEES THAT DEAL WITH LATITUDES N LONGITUDES.HOW DO WE DETERMINE THE FIRST HOUSE IN A HOROSCOPE. IT IS PURELY DETERMINED BY THE RASHI OF A PERSON? OR BY THE DEGREE(THE ABOVE EXAMPLE SAYS ABOUT 27 DEGREES IN DHANUS AND KETU EFFECT ). WAT SIGNIFICANCE THE "DEGREE" HOLDS?SO, IF WE KNOW A RAASHI OF A PERSON, WE CAN DETERMINE THE FIRST HOUSE, AS GIVEN IN BIRTH CHART SHOWN IN LESSON 2)

To answer your query:
Normally lay people in India, when they talk of Raashi they mean the sign where their Chandra was placed when they were born. In the west when they say Sun sign they mean the sign where Surya was placed at the time of their birth.
Lagna, ascendent, 1st house means the Raashi that was rising on the eastern horizon at the time of a persons birth. This has to be calculated by the help of few tables and mathematics. But nowadays there are softwares that do this for you instantaneously, so we are saved this chore and precious time.

To make this more clearer:
Suppose you want to find the 1st house for the time say 12 noon for today and for Mumbai.
if you look up the sunsign then you will find Surya to be in Simha.
So you can be sure that at Sunrise the sign (Raashi) rising on the East will be Simha.
As the day progresses Surya will rise higher in the sky, so after an hour or two the sign risng in the East will be the next sign i.e. Kanya and for any birth occuring at that time will have Kanyaa as the first house and Simha will be the Twelvth house.
After say four hours (10 am approx) Surya will have travelled still further up and the Sign now rising in the East will be Tula and for all births at this time will have Tula as the first house, so Kanya will be the twelvth house and Simha will be the eleventh house.
At noon Surya will be directly overhead and the sign rising on the East will be Vrischika. So this will be the first house for all births at this time and Tula will be the 12th house, Kanya will be the 11th house and Simha with Surya placed in it will be the 10th house.

Thus you see that the first house is the Raashi which was Rising (Ascending) on the Eastern Horizon at the time of birth of that Native (Jaatak).

The 1st, 5th, and 9th houses provde luck, grace, fortune, and blessings. They are called the Laxmi Sthanas (The Place Where the Goddess of wealth dwells).
6th, 8th, and 12th = Trika Sthanas (Troublesome Houses).
The 6th, 8th, and 12th houses indicate the need for change by forcing difficulties upon the native. They are the Malefic houses. Remeber the sixth Bhaava represents the Enemies, The eighth represents diseases and the twelfth again secret enimies and losses.
Houses of Increase: 3rd, 6th, 10th, and 11th = Upachaya Sthanas.

Just wanna to ask questions from this old chapter hope you wont mind it coz it is my habbit to
keep on going thru chapters again and again whenever i get time.

1.You have given
Indications of 9th House. Fortunes, wife's brother, religion, brothers wife, visits to shrines etc. be known from 9th House

Q1.Will this wife's brother would be her younger brother ot elder also. I can understand since 9th is
3rd from 7th it should be considerer as wife's brother but was just wondering will it be only younger
brother(coz 3rd is for younger and 11th is for elder brother)or brother in general.

Q2.Almost same question :- broher's wife . So will it be younger bro's wife or wife of brother in general
coz it is 7th from 3rd.

2.Indications of 10th House. Royalty (authority), place, profession (livelihood), honour, father, living in
foreign lands and debts are to be understood from 10th House

Q3. This is something about which i have been thinking for long time and read few articles before asking this question(esp.
the one which has explanation about how to judge relationship with parents-> from the other site).
I can totally understand considering father from this house coz it is 7th from 4th(mother's) house but in many
books and articles 9th house is also considered for the father but here we r considering father from 10th house.
So can you please clear this doubt of mine that actually from where we should actually consider father 9th house or 10th house.
