I live in Spain, on a small island in the Mediterranean, but I am Italian. I went to University in England and I can handle 5 languages at various levels. I learnt some French when I was 5 years old, but forgot most of it I have a basic reading knowledge of German, just enough to read some poetry or a play, never really tested with a novel - I never really had to speak it. But I can read a news article without rushing to grab the dictionary every other word.... Italian is my mother tongue and I speak it at home, even if probably the languages I know best are English, Spanish AND Italian. I recently noticed I can handle Portuguese more or less OK, even if I have never spoken it, at least I can get the flair of it in print. (oops.. that's really 6 languages!) I am a mixed bag of languages... This Europe stuff can be fairly difficult to handle... hehehe.... But I love it really, and everything I post here in the forums is absolutely self-taught. Welcome, I am sure you'll enjoy it, it's good fun!
