Hi, I'm Rebecca, and I've just found this message board today, after following a link from a download site which offers the MB softwares.
Who am I?
Well, I'm 24, I have four children - Kayleigh who is 22 months and Hermione, Scott and Melody who are all coming up 9 months old. I live with my partner, Bill who is 44, and we two hamsters called Fiona and Donkey, and two guinea pigs called Shrek and Boots. Within a few weeks, we will also be getting a rat.
What do I do?
I am a writer and full time mum. That sounds so much better than housewife doesn't it? Anyway, I am currently working on my first novel and a collection of short stories. I am also a digital artist, and my own art will be featured on the cover of my books when they are published. I also freelance at web design.
Why am I here?
Uh, because I'm interested in all types of astrology and self improvement. I got my first Tarot deck when I was 17 years old, lost it, bought another at 19 years old, lost that, bought another three years ago (the Running Press miniature set), and I still have that! I use that for personal readings, just for myself. I also have a Universal Waite deck (not Rider-Waite, as my first two were) which I use in my writing. More on this in a moment
Anything esle?
I read once that to write your characters successfully you need to know them as you know yourself, so I decided that to do that I need to know them from the ground up - who they are, what they are like, their birth date, their personality, their flaws and quirks - so I thought how can I know all of this about a person in my own mind? The answer was easy - astrology! To know everything I needed to about my characters what I needed to do was pick a name, a DOB and a birthplace and then construct astrological charts for them, learn them from that POV.
So what's this about using Tarot in writing?
This is the sneaky part - I decide how things are going to play out in a story by doing readings for the principal characters. And it's not just Tarot either, I do readings in runes and I Ching too - it all depends on what seems to be the best option at the time. I just find that this way it means that fate has more of a role in my stories than if I planned it ahead from scratch. I also find that if I lose track of what my original plan was in a story, I can just do a reading and change course. I never start a story now knowing where it will end. I find it all part of the fun!
So I hope this helps you to understand me a little, and I look forward to good times on this board!
