I've been dealing with some severe skin problems for more than a year, non-stop.  Doctors only seem interested in trying to treat symptoms, no one seems to want to get to the cause.  I am a realist, and realistically an answer is sure to come.  But lately I am losing hope that I will ever get well.  Life is becoming increasingly meaningless and I am turning to illegal drugs more and more often to escape my reality.  I NEED MORE THAN A HUG, I need a solution.

Hey, here's a hug, a solution's not so easy, but you know that better than I do.

Got skin issues too, occasional psoriasis and a melanoma that had to be removed. There's such a frustration in it, I never noticed my skin until it began to play up - gets in the way of everything.

I hate to advise, cos advice really pisses me off when I'm upset but you know the drugs? They won't  help the skin generally, not least cos they're usually cut with toxins. Anger's an issue too, stress, all these. Water, walking out in natural surroundings, getting away from the demands of others, all these can help on the soul level, and I think that filters through on the physical.

P.S. You've got beauty. Have another hug X

Hi--

I'm sorry you're having the skin problems.  It must be really frustrating, and make you feel very powerless, not to be able to get any answers.  But there IS an answer, and at some point you will get it.

In the meantime, you don't want to let this make lose control over your life and become powerless--then your life will REALLY  feel meaningless, and at some point it will become much more difficult to find that meaning again.  I don't know which drugs you're doing, but, as Seabird mentioned, they certainly won't help your skin problem, and most of them wear down your immune system and your body's ability to heal itself (not to mention your mind).  And I know that once you're used to feeling high, it's REALLY hard to take pleasure in life without them--only making your situation worse while you look for answers (also, I've found that many doctors who are aware of a patient's drug use tend not to take them as seriously as they would otherwise, unfortunately).  And, obviously, addiction takes away your ability to control your own life, and your ability to make yourself happy on your own.

What could end up happening, of course, is that the skin problem will get solved but you end up with a much more serious problem with drugs (again, I don't know which ones you're using, but there could potentially be other much more serious physical problems as a result of your using them, too).  And breaking a serious addiction, as I'm sure you know, can be damn near impossible--a lifelong physical/emotional/spiritual challenge, rather than just a physical one like the one you're having now.  (Please understand that I'm DEFINTELY  not coming from a "people who use drugs are bad" perspective--believe me, I've had a lot of firsthand experience in this area!)

So that's all.  Just please try to think about the things you CAN control right now, and get them under control before that's not possible any more.  The rest will work itself out, and you'll feel better and stronger.

I wish you the best with all of this.

It's really helpful to hear some kind words.  Sometimes all I need is some acknowledgment.  I'm going to keep looking for a solution and try not to rely on drugs to get me thru the rough spots.
