I was up tonight, and I talked with a guy tonight who is currently overseas and is coming home soon, and as soon as I get off the phone, I get a creepy text message from some girl saying that she knew me from high school, and to come outside my house.  Of course, I didn't( it was late at night, and the girl's "name" that she used, I never associated with a girl of that name, nor gave a girl that name my phone number), and I told her she had the wrong number.  My gut has been bothering me, so I talked to my friends who called, and it didn't ring and went straight to voicemail, and they couldn't make out her name.  So I called private, and I couldn't make out the name either.  So my other friend decided to text her, and she forwarded me the conversation.  The girl said she knew that my friend was friends with me and that she'll be seeing me really soon.  I haven't done anything to anyone, and no one from my old school has my phone number but the guy I'm talking with, and my current friends.  I don't know how this person knew my name(I assumed it was a prank) but what they told my friend...I don't know.  Trying to figure out if I should try and find out before school starts since she might be at my college.  I don't know what to do!!!  *sighs*  I don't bother anyone, why do these things happen to me?

You were wise to stay inside your home and not take the bate. I have a strong feeling this girl is connected to the guy you were talking to. You may want to ask him if he knows her next time you are having a conversation with him. Also, to be safe, I would let the local authorities in on this. I would not try and communicate with this person. If you do not know her, it could be someone else entirely. Do they list your number and address in the year books in your college? There are a million ways someone can gain your information. Is your telephone listed or unlisted? Google earth will take someone right to your home if they have your address. I went to my mothers house last week and called her. It really disturbed her. Of course we can't stop google from doing this, but it doesn't make me feel safe. Think of all of the ways a stranger could have gotten your information and do not speak to them if they contact you again. It's my feeling they know you through a third party, and not personally. Perhaps being Nancy Drew for a day or so will uncover the truth. Until then, stay safe and don't worry.

Thank you Julie.  I had a feeling of this too....he was always involved with other girls while we were in college my freshman year...but the weird thing is...he's overseas.  I guess I'm just wondering how she got my phone number...there are other possibilities of people she could be connected to but...*sighs*  If it is him, I guess there is no chance of having a relationship at all with him.  I should have known better.  Thanks so much. ^_^

Agreed. Was also told that you can get your name off of Google if you want to.  After googling your phonenumber at the PhoneBook Results page you click, it will show your address, number, name. There is a small link under this that says "request to have your name removed from this list."  Fill out the forum and submit, it shows that your name should be removed from the list within 48 hours.  But this is only one of many reverse lookup number searches.  Agreed it doesn't make me feel safe.   Reverse number look up has been around for a long time.  There are even searches that can look up your name and number due to your address.  Do you think that could be it too? Have you got the same number that you had for a long time?  They can also find out your local based on your www.com domain name.  What is it regestered to, address, phone number email. Again this has been around for a long time.  How I keep tabs on my dad.  So please protect yourself.  If she was a girl from HS she wouldn't be asking you to come outside your place like that.  That is creepy.  She would try to call you and see if you were interested in re-connecting.  I have men and women who get ahold of me, they remember me, but honestly I cannot remember them from school.  Also some students were not listed in the year book because they came or left shortly.  It happens. My best friend is running into everyone from school, and I go who??? lol.  They remember us for some reason, dunno why.   I talked to everyone but darn if I can remember names.  If she knew you from school, she would have said the teachers, trying to connect to being in the same class.  Different events that took place in those crazy days like involved your group.  Who know she may be harmless, but to ask you to come out like that...bad feelings.  
As to the cell phone being unlisted. I don't know why my BF keeps on getting telemarketers calling.  Do you get those too?  When you register your email, or sign up for things do you use your cell number?  I ask because of all the directories have to get their number from somewhere.
